Drafter
Ray Luzuriaga
The set is done when there's nothing left to explain.
Ray is a drafter at APD. He builds permit-ready sets the careful way — every dimension checked against the next, every callout traced back to the code section that requires it, so a plan reviewer finds nothing to send back.
He treats a drawing set as a set of promises: the contractor can build from it without guessing, and the city can approve it without a second look. Getting there is patience, sheet by sheet.
Field notes
The little things Ray keeps on the bench.
How I work
One sheet at a time — and I don't leave a sheet until it agrees with every other sheet in the set.
What plan check taught me
The corrections you get twice are the ones you stopped checking for. So I keep a list, and I never stop checking.
The boring part that matters
Dimensions and notes. A clean plan with a missing dimension is an RFI waiting to happen.
The standard
Draw it so the field never has to guess.
